Council Begins Steps to Remove Chairman

BATTLE MOUNTAIN BAND - At Thurday's meeting, the Battle Mountain Band Council voted to begin the process to remove Michael Price as chairman of the council.
The action to remove Price was in response to his recent arrest of driving under the influence on May 29 by the Lander County Sheriff's office.  It was further reported that at the time of the arrest, Price was using a band vehicle.  Price entered a plea of "not guilty" at his arraignment on the DUI charge.  His trial is set for July 28.
It was also reported that at the Thursday council meeting, Price was questioned by the band council of his actions in the meeting.  Price later left the meeting leaving Craig Roa to chair in his place.
Despite Price's "not guilty" plea, the band council will hold a meeting on July 13 to hold a hearing for his removal as chairman of the council.
