Te-Moak Granted SORNA Extension

     TEMOAK TRIBE - The Justice Department granted the Te-Moak Tribe an extension until July 27, 2011 for the implementation of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
     SORNA aims to closes potential gaps and loopholes that existed under prior law and generally strengthens the nationwide network of sex offender registration and notification programs.
     The extension was granted for the Te-Moak Tribe along with 53 States/Territories and 177 Indian Tribes.  Only states of Delaware, Florida, Ohio, the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation have substantially implemented SORNA.
