Ruby Pipeline Construction Delays

     TEMOAK TRIBE - The Elko Daily Free Press has the article Ruby Pipeline project delayed which begins "Construction of a $3 billion gas pipeline from Wyoming to Oregon has been pushed back amid work to protect cultural sites and endangered species."

US Forest Service Meetings On Management Plan

     TEMOAK TRIBE - The Elko Daily Free Press has the article Forest road meetings begin Monday which begins "Five public meetings are planned next week on the U.S. Forest Service’s draft study of the Travel Management Plan for the Elko County area of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest."

Battle Mountain Band Election Date

     BATTLE MOUNTAIN BAND - The Battle Mountain Band will have an election on June 30 for the empty Band Council seat.  Battle Mountain Band Council has consisted of only 6 council members since Edith Tybo vacated the position in March.

Elko Land Bill Introduced

     ELKO BAND - The Elko Daily Free Press has the article Heller introduces Elko land bill which begins "U.S. Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., introduced his House version of a bill to provide land for an Elko motocross park and land for the Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone."

Elko Motocross and Tribal Conveyance Act Introduced to House

     ELKO BAND – Wednesday, Rep. Dean Heller introduced H.R. 5416, the Elko Motocross and Tribal Conveyance Act, to the House of Representatives and it was referred to the House Committee on Natural Resources. The bill requires the Secretary of the Interior to convey certain Federal land to Elko County, Nevada, and to take land into trust for the Te-moak Tribe of Western Shoshone Indians of Nevada, and for other purposes. Actions of the Te-Moak Housing Board of May 20

     TEMOAK TRIBE – The following actions were made by the housing board on May 20.

     - The housing board tabled the personnel policy amendment.
     - The types of criminal history allowable for admissions was on the agenda for discussion and concerns were raised on what “lesser crime” meant for housing applicants. When adopted by the board, “lesser crime” would apply to persons submitting applications for housing.
     -The 2010 IHP was discussed to inform the housing board of the draft Indian Housing Plan. It was reported that the IHP would be completed before the deadline of June 30.
     -The housing board tabled the vehicle purchase by the Client Service Department
     -The housing board passed a resolution add Craig Roa and Gilbert Temoke as checksigners for housing.
     -The housing board tabled the Field Foreman job announcement
     -The housing board tabled the Client Service Supervisor job announcement.
     -The housing board voted for Gilbert Temoke to go to housing training.

Flawed Questionnaires

     TEMOAK TRIBE – As reported earlier, the Te-Moak Tribe had issued a questionnaire that asked members "should the Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone Tribal Council serve as Te-Moak Housing Authority Board or establish a new Board?”
     Unfortunately, the questionnaire was set as a "yes or no" question which led to confusion of tribal members on how to answer the flyer.
     Now, tribal members are being asked to circle one of the choices rather than answer yes or no. Also, a new questionnaire is being developed.
     If there are further questions regarding the flyer, call (775) 738-9251. Questionnaires can be picked up at the tribal office and should be submitted to the Te-Moak Tribe administration office by May 28, 2010.

Band Council Takes Back Assignments

     SOUTH FORK BAND – It is being reported that the South Fork Band Council has begun the process to take assignments away from two tribal members. In a decision by the Council earlier this week, the Band Council has taken action against the tribal members. Because the Band Council meeting was closed, there is no information of who the two tribal members are.

Elko County Board of Commissioners Meeting Today

     ELKO COUNTY – The Elko County Board of Commissioners will hold a meeting today at 1:30 p.m. in Suite 102 of the Nannini Administration Building, 540 Court Street, Elko, Nevada. The meeting concerns Elko County’s position statement regarding the Mountain City, Ruby Mountains and Jarbidge District Travel Management Project.
