ELKO COUNTY - The Travel Management Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) public comment period will be extended until December 17. The current comment period was set to expire on June 21.
The DEIS determines what roads and trails will be open in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.
“This extension will allow more time for people interested in the project to get outside and drive the routes,” said Gar Abbas, Ruby Mountains and Jarbidge District Ranger.
Further, Tom Montoya, Mountain City District Ranger stated, “We have committed to working with the County, local tribes, and all interested parties between now and the end of this project,” said
Anyone who comments on the DEIS, either in writing, email, by fax or in person between May 7 and December 17.
