Council Continues Snail Pace for Election

     BATTLE MOUNTAIN BAND -  Since the resignation of Michael Price as Battle Mountain Band Chairman, the Battle Mountain Council has made little progress in conducting a special election.
     Price resigned his position as chairman on July 14.  At that time, election committee members Bernice Lalo and Carlene Burton resigned from the committee, leaving the election committee and process in limbo.
     Despite the election ordinance requiring a special election be conducted with 30 days of the vacancy, Battle Mountain just recently added another member to the election committee.
     Now that the election committee has enough members to conduct an election, the Battle Mountain community still waits for a date of events and a new band council chairman.
